I bought the TomTom car kit because I have one of the iPhones with a dodgy GPS chip. It now works perfectly. it is not just a mount, it boosts GPS, can link sound from app to car radio, has a built in speaker, and also you can pair using bluetooth. Most importantly though, my app now works perfectly, and I can use my iPod in it with the app if I want. You get what you pay for, and this is quality!!

Yes it is pricey but good

Thanks to a number of misfortunes I needed a new mobile, MP3 player and a Satnav. Answer: iPhone. Easy. Purchased the TomTom app for it and yes it is good (safety cameras etc come included) but a bit of lag and in built up areas with high buildings could get a bit messy. So traded up to the bespoke cradle and HUGE improvement: works superbly. Also can now connect via Belkin radio link to my car stereo, which previously was a no go for the iPhone. Do not dispute it is an expensive fix but you get what you pay for.

Pleased with this: Small, neat, unobtrusive, Suction cup works very well Bluetooth connection very easy and totally reliable Amplified sound plenty loud enough in my vehicles- a sports car and a van, both with above saloon car cabin noise. I'd buy another if the need arose...

iphone 4 owner

I asked Tom-Tom if this unit was compatible with the iphone 4. I was told, sadly it was not. Problem was, I needed one to charge and make full use of the iphone Tom-Tom app I had bought. Then by chance I saw a couple of YouTube video clips where people had added a simple piece of Velcro to make it work. So I bought the kit and did the same. I was really happy with the result and it works perfectly. The kit is easy to use and really enhances the Tom-Tom app. Much clearer voice instructions and positioning within the car. The blue tooth easy to setup allows hands free calls. The voice control calling worked but only tried it once and was a bad line, so can't comment on the quality. All in all very pleased with the kit, its simple, functional and compact. Its possible that a new iphone 4 car kit will be released soon and will be better. But there was no expected release dates and so i decided this was the best alternative.

Works well

I tried this product now for few weeks. My iPhone 3GS GPS is already not bad, however a get the no signal note every now and then and sometimes it takes around a minute to find a signal, plus some minor lags. However, since using the TomTom car kit i get the signal immediately, and no lags at all. I strongly recommend the product for travelers.
